Our goals are to help you learn about our campus through campus tours, classroom presentations, and publications; to provide the information you need to become a successful applicant and to be available to answer any questions you have regarding your admission.

GPA

Your grade point average is based on grades earned during 10th through 12th grades of college prep courses. You may receive bonus points for each C or better in approved honors or AP courses.

Honors

Up to eight semesters of honors courses taken in the last two years of high school can be accepted. Each unit of A in an honors course will receive a total of 5 points; B, 4 points; and C, 3 points.

Subject Requirements

The CSU requires first-time freshman applicants to complete, with a grade of C or better, the following comprehensive pattern of college preparatory study totaling 15 units. A "unit" is one year of study in high school:

The International Admissions (IA), a unit of Global Education (OGE), is your first contact within OGE if you wish to become a student (on F-1 or J-1 visa) at California State University, Sacramento.

Residence Classification Information

Under California law, each campus must determine the residence status of all new and returning students. Non-residents are required to pay non-resident tuition.

Generally, to be eligible for resident classification, a person must be able to establish the following one year prior to the residence determination date:

  1. They have the legal right to establish California residency
  2. The have initiated the legal intent to establish California residency.
  3. They have established and maintained a physical presence and permanent residence in California.

Residence determination dates for each academic term for Sacramento State are:

Fall Semester: September 20th

Spring Semester: January 25th

Residence determination of minors is based on the residence status of their parents. Minors are those applicants under the age of 19 on the applicable residence determination date. If you have been classified as a non-resident and would like to have your status reviewed please submit a Residency Questionnaire along with supporting documentation to the Residency Screening Office in the Admissions and Outreach Office in Lassen Hall. Please note that no official determination of residence status will be made until after student has submitted an application for admissions and that student may be required to submit additional supporting documentation for a final determination to be made.

If you are eligible for the California Nonresident Tuition Exemption (AB540), print the California Non-Resident Tuition Exemption Request (pdf) , complete it and submit it to the Residence Screening Office.
